ETHICAL
RESPONSIBLITIES TO CHILDREN
1 (I-1.9)- To advocate
for and ensure that all children, including those with special needs, have
access to the support services needed to be successful.
·
Significance:
As a professional, it is important to provide all services and resources
available. This will assist in a child’s
needs and education.
2 (I-1.12)- To work
with families to provide a safe and smooth transition as children and families
move from one program to the next.
·
Significance:
Transitioning from Early Head Start to Head Start can be overwhelming for
children and their families. There are many adjustments they may experience,
such as: classroom size, students and new teachers. It is vital to ensure the transfer
of all necessary paper work and request any needed in a timely manner.
From
DEC: Code of Ethics
PROFESSIONAL
AND INTERPERSONAL BEHAVIOR
3. (2.) We shall
demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, and
honesty in all
our professional
activities in order to inspire the trust and confidence of the children and
families
and of those with
whom we work.
·
Significance:
This is particularly important in order to succeed at assisting families and
their children. Integrity and truthfulness are imperative aspects in order to receive
trust and commitment.

Great posting Ashley! You made great choices and I agree with your reasoning. I think you will have a great working environment and attitude toward families and children. Your positive outlook in keeping the field respectful and truthful to it's purpose, should be commended. Thanks for sharing your perspectives on what you feel is significance in your professional life.
ReplyDeleteHi, Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI agree with the ideals you chose from NAEYC because as education professionals we need to be advocates for our young children and make sure they get what they deserve especially those with disabilities and/or special needs. Providing them with what they needs will or can ensure they will have the same opportunity as all other children in recieving an education.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteThe ideals you chose reflect your strong advocacy for young children and their families. Supporting families in their transitions, advocating for children with special needs, and maintaining honesty with families will really help develop trust with the families you work with!
